NaNoWriMo
I did it. Fifty thousand words and a few to spare as of early yesterday evening. It’s sort of a crime to tag this post “literature,” but at least it’s done, and I’ll be back to annoy you on the blog a whole lot more now.

Well done! Off to the publisher now?Report
Oh no. I’m only allowed to inflict that kind of pain on my husband.Report
I’m actually looking forward to it. I liked the first one, too, even if Jason wound up hating it, but it was admittedly kind of wild in its storyline. I’m led to believe this one makes more sense.Report
I failed. RSI cropped up badly a week in and then I was sick for three weeks straight.
But it was junk. On the other hand, working it out gave me a couple of much better ideas.Report
Good job Jason and don’t sell yourself short. Doesn’t count for the nanowrite topic but my published author friend and I wrote a small one act play. First time I’ve ever done a play and it has gone into its own kind of competition, we’ll see if it gets accepted. Tag team writing is actually more fun than writing by myself for the most part. He came up with the original idea (the theme if you will) and I just riffed off it with my usual verbal jazz. We tried to out twist each other for endings and voila, a play.Dialogue is a beast when writing a play versus a story. Since I’m writing screen direction and stage setup too, I’m hearing the words “louder” in my head when its a play so I’m more careful or constrained, don’t know for sure yet.
If anyone wants to try that with me let me know. I’ve still got a ton of crazy ideas running around in my head, but need human motivation to push me along. I’d have never written an OP for here except Patrick asked me to, twice.Report
