Happy-Happy-Joy-Joy Friday Jukebox
My goodness, the news on the radio this morning was grim. Everything was Newt Gingrich this, Jerry Sandusky that, constant reminders that our economy is in the crapper, with wee reminders of how David Stern has totally fished the season for my Lakers just to top things off.
When life’s news gets a little too, the only reasonable tonic for me is music. So today I wanted to post the two songs I listen to these days when I am need of a smile. Bonus: each band has produced a video to go with the song that would make me smile independent of the songs.
The first, Lonely Boy by the Black Keys, I post for those that need to do just a bit of dancing at their desks with the door closed before that next meeting. (Advanced Warning: No matter how cool you look dancing in your office, it won’t be as cool as this guy dancing in front of a sleazy motel):
The second is an mid-tempo waltz by Death Cab for Cutie: Stay Young, Go Dancing. This video had just been released the day of Jaybird and Maribou’s anniversary, and I had tried to post in then in honor of that fine and auspicious day. Sadly, at that point they were not allowing embedding of their new release, so I post it now – belatedly hoping they continue to drink toasts to one another over many, many years. This is also for all the romantic saps like me:
And, of course, an open thread. Have a kick-ass weekend, all.
