I was fortunate to get a version of the opposite of this not too long ago. At the new doctor’s office a nurse was questioning me about being active and putting into the EMR system. I went through the bike riding, and the occasional fencing, and the ongoing landscape rebuilding that involves moving a fair amount of heavy stuff from here to there (and sometimes back). I whined a bit about being slower and having to knock off sooner from the heavy lifting than I used to. “Honey,” she said, “I see people every day younger than you that have let themselves go to the point they can’t even try things like that.
