  1. This will give her a year and a half to rest before she replaces Pence as the VP nominee.

    I’m not swearing that’ll happen, but I’d take 4:1 odds on it.Report

    1. there are monetary concerns, and also if you want to go for higher office later this is probably last chance to have some “down town” for a year or two in which to do so. Recharge the batteries, charge up the bank account, reset for later. Makes a lot of sense.Report

  2. This is one of those stories where I almost clicked on one of the many links proposing to explain the significance of the resignation… but I didn’t because it doesn’t really matter.

I thought the UN would be an obvious CV burnishing for 2020+, but sheesh, her foreign policy hot-takes pointed to magnetic wrong in just about every instance she opened her mouth. My hot-take is that she’s getting out of a job no one watches while no one is looking hoping no one will notice.Report

    1. I honestly didn’t see the significance.

I mean, if she resigned in disgrace over some problematic travel or something, okay… sure.

      But if she just resigned?

I DID NOT SPEND THE LAST TWO YEARS GETTING OUTRAGED OVER STUFF I CAN’T REMEMBER TWO WEEKS LATER TO HAVE TO NOTICE STUFF LIKE AMBASSADORS RESIGNING

Honestly, this feels like something that would have happened in 1990 and we’d spend a week talking about what it meant for President H.W. Bush and our role in the UN and sober commentators would be able to devote 20 minutes to it on Sunday Morning.Report

      1. Right… as my mouse hovered over various links I kinda did the math in my head and came up with: speculation=speculation and speculation=0.

Sure, if yer gonna drag me in to it… former Governor, female, Movement Conservative, member of Trump Sr. Staff, possible Presidential challenger/running-mate/future office-holder does a thing.

Absent hint of juicy tidbit, it is the definition of meh.Report
