an ending, but no closure
Wesleyan University is in my hometown. I have many connections to the university, which I won’t share now. I was in fact on campus when the terrible events of Wednesday occured.
I wish I had something smart or insightful or wise to say about it all, about crime or violence against women or how to live in a world where there’s no such thing as safety. But I don’t. All I know is that a bright young woman’s life was ended for no reason and far too soon, that a murderous and deranged man has been put behind bars, I hope for the rest of his life, and my community and the Wesleyan community will be dealing with all of this, emotionally and pragmatically, for a very long time.
Wow, Freddie. That’s really sad.Report
Like Freddie Middletown is also my hometown, and although I have long moved away the news of the events made me feel sad beyond words…….I can’t even imagine a scene like this inside the bookstore that holds a lot of happy childhood memories for me. My thoughts are certainly with the Weslyan-Middletown community and the family of this poor young girl.Report
