  1. Ginsberg is more generationally appealing than universal, or timeless, The beat period was a specific time and place which has not translated well through the decades. What it’s portrayed as today is a caricature which makes me a little sad.

    In a sense the supermarket is appropos for a Whitman poem, as he attempted to consume the world. I’m not sure another poet will ever be as large, as bigger than life, as was Whitman.Report
