I’m surprised and saddened that the F word is trending so high. I’ve tried to get my nephew to see that “gay” and “no homo” are hurtful, but without much success.Report
Dumb yet sincere question, with no way to answer, but how many of the instances do you think come from actual gay people tweeting to other gay people, much like black people might call each other ‘my nigger’?Report

I always found “No Homo” to be an interesting phenomenon.
Essentially, it’s saying, “I’m going to engage in what might be a stereotypically gay behavior but I’m not gay!” Which you would think could serve to disarm stereotypes. It doesn’t seem to do that but I wonder if, over time, it is breaking down those stereotypes.
It doesn’t make it any less offensive, of course.Report
