Twilight Zone or one of the similar shows did an episode about the whole world being a set, with parts constructed on an as-needed basis. Each “minute” gets built, but only includes the parts where there are going to be people. Unneeded parts get torn down to be used elsewhere. Dwarfs in coveralls did all the work. One of the gag lines was that sometimes when the workers have to hurry, they overlook setting out some of the objects, and that’s why you sometimes find things in places you’ve already looked. When my wife and I are looking for some misplaced thing, and find it in plain sight in a room that we searched previously, one of us will say something about, “Must be the little guys that make the minutes again.”Report
