I think I shall wear a hat.Report
I think I shall wear a different football jersey in the next one. A.C. Milan’s kit looks cool but Nob… reacted badly. I already have just the thing to needle him even more next time. Muh-wah-hah-hah-hah!Report
Juventus shirt would make you look like a jailbird.Report
Or an American football referee.Report
…have you watched a recent NFL game? The refereeing IS CRIMINAL!Report
I think I shall take a nap on LeagueCast days before casts.Report
A great idea, I just have two comments on technique. First, to maximize viewership you probably want a shorter version. This was called “raw,” so perhaps there’s a plan to edit it down to a more easily digestible length. (Some of us have the attention span of squirrels, you know.) Second, the constant typing noises in the background were very annoying. I don’t know if people were messaging questions/comments to each other or multi-tasking, but either way it made it very hard (for me) to concentrate.
But as I said, it’s a great idea, and my comments are meant to be constructive toward that good end, not damning.Report
On a completely non-content related note, I loved getting to see the actual faces of those of you who have never used your own image as a gravatar.Report
Rose looks more than a little bit like her gravatar. IMO.
Kyle’s an exact match. And Tod looks absolutely nothing like a tree.Report
thank goodness you aren’t yellow Burt.Report
I knew I should have put away my crystal ball!Report
Damn I’m a handsome man.Report

Murali,
You write such grammatically correct and pitch perfect American English that it was jarring to hear that your English was heavily non-American accented (even though, if I had thought first, I would have assumed it was).
Please don’t think that’s a criticism. It’s really just a comment on the ways in which our minds construct more-or-less complete images out of very incomplete bits of information.Report
My ninja skills involve running away stealthily.Report
i think headsets might help a bit, as the mic pickups were – though not terrible – not the best quality either. i presume whomever wins the hand of editing this will be cleaning up the audio as much as possible. (a dog’s breakfast, which is why i don’t edit podcasts for friends anymore unless i have to)Report
I would suggest putting nametags in front of folks – I know that names were used periodically, but sometimes would be nice to know, oh yeah that’s Mike. I enjoy bloggingheads in part because they give links of topics & times, e.g. “abortion discussion 47:01-51:42” so if you want to click on a specific topic, it makes it easy, and that’s for the entire discussion.
This is the first time I’ve seen a group bloggingheads (perhaps they’re out there & I just haven’t seen them) so kudos for putting this together.Report
I only watched a bit (being home sick does have its perks, I suppose), but it looks like everyone did a great job.
I wouldn’t mind some of the suggestions tarylcabot made. Maybe one of you (I’m looking at you, casual Murali) could be a moderator of sorts? Keep things in line a bit. There are two broad categories of academic panel discussions: chaos and order. The best ones, I think, have a little of both. This looks like it had a little bit of both, but might have benefited from someone holding the reigns.
My suggestion would be to do something like this: the panelists send the moderator a quick note when they have something they want to say, and thee moderator says, “Rose wanted to jump in here,” or perhaps a note with something about what you want to say, so the moderator can say, “Nob wanted to jump in here and say something about gay marriage and the courts.”Report
I was supposed to moderate, but I still haven’t gotten the hang of multitasking. In this case, it is participating in the discussion (concentrating on what is being said) and trying to moderate so that it doesn’t become a free for all.Report
Just want to say: for someone who has been hanging around here a pretty long while now, this is really frickin’ cool. Like, it’s kind of a candidate for “The Kind Of Thing This Whole Enterprise Has, In Retrospect, Been Pointing At/Moving Toward All Along”-level coolness.
Well done, Gentlemen.Report
Murali – I have trouble with that multi-tasking thing as well as my wife pointed out in the Starbucks drive through last weekend. Overall liked that fact that each member of the league got to state their views- enjoyed the mutual respect – without it turning into some McLaughlin shoutfest.
Perhaps instead of name tags, folks could have their icon – then i’d know “oh that’s the tree guy. there’s the over sized glasses dude.” posted somewhere behind y’all- not intrusive, but would make it easy for viewer to know who’s who, since i associate most of you with your icon & would guess that others do the same.Report
