The greatest montage (can’t call it a scene) ever filmed is the third-from-ultimate part of the Godfather, in which Michael stands for baptism of Connie’s child while having the heads of the five families assassinated.

Me, I’ll take Renoir’s Grand Illusion Marseillaise scene, which came a few years earlier than Casablanca (perhaps Casablanca ripped it off — they’re set up quite similarly). http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1y4f4_la-grande-illusion-marseillaise_shortfilmsReport
I can see a few similarities, but the lack of Nazis getting pwned detracts from the overall level of awesomeness.Report
Well, those are Germans (not Nazis – it’s WWI) who have come to be entertained by French POWs in drag, who get up and walk out in a huff.Report
Ah. That is a striking parallel. But I stand by my comment about the lack of Nazis.Report
