Lest we forget
David Frum has some images which should sober up any claims that somehow Muslims as a group are to blame for Thursday’s shooting. The acts of the few should not condemn the peaceful majority, even if this was a religiously motivated act of violence, which of course we have no way of knowing yet.
It’s pretty remarkable how often posts like this one get dismissed as “political correctness”. There are a billion Muslims in the world. The number of people who have ever been involved in terrorism among them is an infinitesimal fraction of that number. And yet we’re to take it as merely PC when people point that fact out?Report
Good on Frum for posting that.Report
“The acts of the few should not condemn the peaceful majority.”
Do we really want to make such a sweeping generalization?
There are, after all, people out there who are gun owners, people out there who oppose health care reform, people out there who oppose abortion, tea baggers, rednecks, and assorted right-wing types who obviously are complicit in formenting a veritable agar solution in which violence is inevitable, even if the majority of the people who compose the medium have plausible deniability.Report
Well if people are actively fomenting violence, hatred, etc then they are culpable. Sweeping generalizations are asinine. They make an ass out of nine people….. or something like that.Report
