Friday Jukebox/Canadian Content
Canadian shoegazers extraordinaire, Mystery Machine hung up their flangers back in 1999, but they’re back with a new album and touring again. For those of you in Ottawa, they’ll be playing Zaphod Beeblebrox Friday night. The City Above (a great local band) and And What Army? (a band I haven’t seen yet despite being good friends with them) open. I hope to see you there. Here’s their pseudo-hit, Brand New Song*:
And for those of you who always wondered what it would be like to skateboard around (I assume) Chilliwack, here’s Ride:
*Years ago, I picked up a 7″ at one of their shows. Brand New Song was the B Side with Heart of Glass on Side A. I thought, ‘Cool, they cover Heart of Glass, that’ll be interesting.’
Nope. They didn’t cover it. Side A of their 7″ was Blondie.
Jonathan, this was wonderful.
I admit to sitting here drinking and listening to The Bee Gees, John Denver, and The Carpenters and thinking that I should start an open thread titled “I’m drinking and listening to The Bee Gees, John Denver, and The Carpenters and you should be too” but saw your post and said “huh, I guess I have an obligation to listen to that, I guess” and I’m very pleased I did.
Thanks for sharing it.Report
