Military occupation is the leading cause of suicide terrorist attacks over the last 30 years.  So says a study partially funded by that hippie collective, the Defense Department’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency:

“We have lots of evidence now that when you put the foreign military presence in, it triggers suicide terrorism campaigns, … and that when the foreign forces leave, it takes away almost 100% of the terrorist campaign,” Pape said in an interview last week on his findings.

The researchers have also gone the extra step of making all of the information upon which they relied publicly available in a searchable database.
