Preparing for the Worst
The funniest thing about this article on survivalism is the disdain hardcore aficionados have for less committed suburban survivalists:
Hard-core survivalists might think of preppers as soft; “Eventually, the Chef Boyardee is going to run out,” jokes Cody Lundin, the founder of the Aboriginal Living Skills School, a survival camp based out of his home in Prescott, Az.
Yes. The hard-core guy seems to be missing an important point: A crucial element of surviving as an aboriginal is access to vast swaths of thinly populated land. Plenty of rabbits and deer and edible roots and such. But in an emergency, these kinds of things are going to run out fairly quickly in, say, Northern Virginia. The winners there will be people who procure guns quickly. Just as important is a network of people who can help you guard stuff. As such, I would rather ally with the soccer mom who runs the PTA than some Navy SeAl.Report
