Crew Wanted: NYC to Montauk
Ordinary readers and writers, greetings from Barnegat Light NJ!
Presently Mon Tiki and I will be back in New York Harbor, some 5 1/2 months after the above picture what taken. I’d love to have a few of you join us for the final leg of the journey, a run out Long Island Sound on the next fair weather chance.
Sunrise off Chincoteague Island
Thanks to my last post we were lucky enough to have Jesse Scaccia, editor in chief of Norfolk’s AltDaily.com for a gorgeous run from Norfolk to Atlantic City. Sustained 8kts sailing, glassy sunrise, dolphins, a radio relay for a Coast Guard medivac, and an intimidating thunderstorm to finish the run. The whole world of sailing in a 30 hour run!
Jesse and and the author on the catamaran Mon Tiki
Hopefully not quite so much excitement on our way to Montauk, but whatever comes Mon Tiki can take it. I’m sure you can too. and once we get to Montauk two hours on the jitney and your back in the city. Let’s go sailing!
UPDATE:
Looks like a we have one signed on, still room for a couple more. With a few people it makes the watch keeping very easy. I hope you’ll join us!
Hello,
I am in Montauk now heading West today. I am up from the Houston area but did not bring much in the way of sailing gear. My wife and I spoke to you at your marina in Montauk last year at this time (you invited us aboard).
I have been sailing for 10 years. I am currently in a sailing program sailing a 2012 36′ Hunter. I have sailed most of the sound from Throgs Neck to Pt Jeff.
Let me know your schedule and what gear I need to get.
Thanks
Neal Platti
