Sure – I have lots of friends with kids that haven’t started school yet and they are very opinionated about public schools. My wife and I have one in high school and one in the 5th grade and our opinions on public education are a lot different. Quite simply, it will be what you make of it.Report
People also love their own lawsuits but hate those of others. People also seem to relentlessly reelect their own incumbents but want other peoples pol’s thrown out. People love federal spending in their area but know that fed spending on others is pork.
A lot of opinions aren’t based on data more then personal experience and are formed around preexisting beliefs and tribal identity.Report
People also love to rate themselves as being of above average intelligence while simultaneously believing that everyone they don’t know is a moron. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if they also tend to think that their own children are of above average intelligence (and therefore their local school must be doing something right) while thinking everyone else’s children are morons.Report
My schools are fine. I just worry about the schools in the places where people tend to not be polled.Report
Lake Wobegon Effect
I once read that 70% of drivers think they are “above average.”Report
