James Horner, Rest in Peace
Film composer James Horner died earlier today in a plane crash. Horner is most famous for composing the scores to Braveheart and Titanic, but he was responsible for the music of over 120 films, including Commando, An American Tail, Field of Dreams, Glory, Apocalypto, and many other great films that would have been less great if not for Horner’s haunting scores.

OK, I have no idea what is going on with embedding? Can’t seem to get it to work.
Those are from Wrath of Khan and Aliens. Obviously.Report
@glyph
The shortcode format (enclosed in square brackets) isn’t set to work in comments, but only in posts (and it’s not really necessary in them). We could set it to work, but simply posting the URL naked (either the “share” URL or the “video URL”) works OK for me, with one limitation: You can’t, apparently, post multiple video links in the same comment.
Just going to see if I can post multiple iFrame embeds in the same comment:

Yes we can.
(Iframe code is what YouTube usually gives you when you click on “embed.” Includes more formatting options.)Report

@ck-macleod – That right there ^^^^, IS the pasted Iframe code from Youtube. It is getting converted to shortcode/bracketed somehow when I post the comment. IFrame code is what I generally use unless I am on mobile, since you can control things like start/end times, resolution etc.
I see it didn’t convert yours – is this an access level thing?Report
Let’s take this over to the latest development thread instead of littering Christopher’s in Memoriam thread with it. (Sorry, CC.)Report
I texted this to my brother, an orchestral trombonist and Horner fan:
R.I.P. James Horner. In memoriam, I am blindly firing a pulse rifle and crapping my pants as aliens drop down through a false ceiling.Report
