Saturday!
So let’s say that you’ve got yourself the conclusion to an epic storyline coming up. You want this thing to be huge. Let’s say, oh, you’re going to have the main character replaced by a heretofore villain who is going to be picking up the mantle of the superhero. If it’s a movie, maybe you’re going to have the main character be a decoy. Maybe it’ll be revealed that the narrator was unreliable or that the narrator was not who you thought the narrator was going to be. Something that will make you, the person at home, say “whoa… I seriously did not see that coming.”
One thing you should not do is advertise your game or movie or whatever with posters (or statues) with, say, Killer Croc in the bat costume. Or say stuff like “STARRING NATALIE PORTMAN AS THE QUEEN!” and then have Natalie Portman as one of the queen’s handmaidens and someone who is obviously not Natalie Portman sitting on the throne. I’m sure we all remember a handful of these big reveals that have been messed up by the pre-event promotional materials.
Throw another one onto the pile.
Arkham Knight is bundling a statue with its premium edition of the game with the big reveal RIGHT THERE ON THE STATUE. And, of course, Amazon is selling the premium edition of the game and showing the contents of the box by showing everybody a picture of the statue.
Advice: If you can avoid doing stuff like this, you should avoid doing stuff like this.
So… what are you playing?
