Something to consider
Today, perhaps a million people will be approached by some unknown entity which will attempt to engage them in written correspondence with the purpose of selling them something or perhaps even defrauding them outright – although the entity in question really has no “purpose” of its own, being an algorithm which itself has been put into motion by some human. Many of these people will fall for it; others will attempt a conversational trick determine whether they are speaking with another human or instead a series of numbers – which is to say that we are now at the point where the average person may be forced to conduct a Turing test on an average day.
I prefer the Voight-Kampff test personally, although “I’m not a bot, silly” had me fooled immediately.Report
The sad part is, a significant portion of the time, the bots pass.Report
