Some of the coverage from National Review and The Washington Times really has to be read to be believed. A guy whose career highlights include chaining a pregnant woman to a bed and filing trumped-up charges against a judge is suddenly the victim of “persecution.”

I think what Will is saying is that your past deeds, as well as your current level of power, contribute to the legitimacy of the claims of persecution.
Of course, Arpaio deserves all the shit people can shovel on him, so I couldn’t care less if it amounts to persecution or not. The dude is bad news for civil liberties.Report
