Weekend!

Jaybird

Jaybird is Birdmojo on Xbox Live and Jaybirdmojo on Playstation's network. He's been playing consoles since the Atari 2600 and it was Zork that taught him how to touch-type. If you've got a song for Wednesday, a commercial for Saturday, a recommendation for Tuesday, an essay for Monday, or, heck, just a handful a questions, fire off an email to AskJaybird-at-gmail.com

I am sad Jaybird didn’t dance in the dance-off, because he is a fun dancer. (He just called from the other room, “IT’S YOUR FAULT, IF YOU WERE THERE WE WOULD’VE WON.” And then he asked me a question which proved that he was right. Dangit. Maybe next week.)

I went to a play – or really a series of 6 short 10-minute-ish plays – tonight, which was fun. I really enjoy live theater if it’s even halfway good, and this was all the way good.

I’m in the weird position where I’m hoping no one suggests social plans over the weekend, because I will want to go, but what I really need to do is [list of umpteen chores]. I’ll be going over to Dman’s wife’s house (I think I will start calling her Cwoman from now on) to watch Outlander on Sunday, but since I can wear my pyjamas and they don’t care if I fall asleep or not, that is less “social plans” and more “family ritual.”Report

Tomorrow evening my son and I are going to play in some Pathfinder Society adventures, which means we need to roll up some characters.
Sunday my girlfriend and I are going to see Sweeny Todd, which is part of this season’s opera subscription.Report

With #TheAmericans out of the way, I have quite a bit of work I need to do around the house and such.

The dog is learning how to deal with the static correction collar, I think. I think she knows that when she leaves the zone and gets the correction, she needs to come back to Home Base (the deck) as quick as possible. Really, all she has to do is move about ten feet towards home, but that’ll be a part of the learning process.

I’ve started eating my magic cereal again. I’ve been gaining weight and something needed to change.

My ecigarette wicks are not going to arrive on time, which has me a little bit nervous. I was hopeful they’d get here by today because they’re being sent from Florida instead of New Jersey*. I should be able to make it by Monday, but it might be a stretch.Report

I lost 70 pounds due in large part to magic cereal. Unfortunately, capitalism sucks and they changed the formula. Life intervened, I stopped making it a daily habit, and the weight has come back.

(I did preach The Gospel of the Magic Cereal, but alas it did not help others as much as it helped me.)Report

Honestly, if I could lose ten I’d be happy, if I lost twenty I’d be ecstatic, so I am not looking for radical results. Do I need to search the site for “Gospel of the Magic Cereal”?Report

Is this cereal marketted as “Magic Cereal” or is it publicly known by another name?Report

          • FiberOne. I leaned heavily on the Honey Clusters, but they took out some of the fiber and put in a bit more sugar. So now I’m going to mix it with FiberOne Original. FiberOne original tastes like cardboard rice on its own, but it’s a fair compliment to other food. We’ll see how it works.

Basically, the formula was: Eat the cereal every morning. Every single morning. Then scale down your meals for the rest of the day and don’t eat if you’re not hungry (and/or stop eating when you’re no longer hungry), except a modest amount for a meal for lunch and dinner. For the first while, I kept a different fiber/protein rich cereal (Kashi original) around to make sure I was never dying of hunger, but after a while it became unnecessary, if it ever was.Report

      Missing footnote?Report

      • Indeed. I was going to say that when I first started vaping, two of the three suppliers of ejuice were in New Jersey. New Jersey then started talking about passing a bunch of laws, and so both of them moved to Florida. I don’t know why Florida, but the end result was that shipping times improved greatly.

So thank you Governor Christie, I suppose! (No politics.)

A lot of my ebay purchases still come from New Jersey, for whatever reason. Boo.Report

I’ve had a pretty intense week at work and I get to look forward to another one next week with a bonus of work over the weekend. In other words, I’m thinking that my job sucks right about now. I’d sure love to hear back from the Governor’s office about my appointment — if the answer is going to be “no” then I want to be able to focus career advancement plans elsewhere.

On the plus side, Saturday I’ve reserved to be brew day. This time, it’s a cream ale.Report

My amazing week came to an unexpected and abrupt end at exactly 4 pm yesterday. 🙁 I’m looking forward to a hellish Friday and weekend. The next two weeks are going to be tough, too. All work related. I can’t train all the employees I’ve recently hired fast enough.

In between the calls I get all weekend from being on call, I have theater tickets for Saturday!!! It’s been too long. Portland Center Stage here I come! 🙂

I’m also on a weight lose kick. I don’t use magic cereal or anything, but I’ve always done well when I commit to watching my calorie intake and sticking to a workout routine.Report

1st episode — not as good as Sherlock has become; but it’s also not as affected, which is nice. The arc of character development is the same; highly-intelligent person who is also highly sensitive. Carlyle has screen time, but hasn’t said a word yet. He looks young to me; a punk, I like his facial sculpting since this was shot. His hair kills me after Rumple.

The Doctor’s interesting; I hope she lives up to her promise.Report

Last weekends renos took longer because that’s what they always do, I guess. But the carpet is out, the walls are insulated and drywalled, and the debris is at the dump. We were going to shop for flooring today, but instead we spent a couple hours waiting for trains on the way to and from the dump, and arranged the living room to accommodate a piano.

This weekend is going to be the big move – Mr. T, my wife’s partner, is moving in with us. Things will be a bit cluttered until we have a finished basement to set some things up in, but we should be able to get that done pretty easily in May. This will make so many things in all our lives so much easier.Report
