The speech is awesome (eta: except maybe the part about government’s borrowing; I have a bone to pick with Ron Paul on some of his thoughts there).
The images are manipulative.Report
Yeah, though the media does approach Paul questionably, as Jon Stewart points out.Report
Yeah, they should let the newsletter thing go. Just as soon as Paul discusses it honestly.Report
That was fair ball. Not what I was referring to.Report
Many of the bits about foreign policy and intervention could fit in the speeches of many liberal/lefty types over the last three decades. They didn’t get taken any more seriously by the media. And of course the members of Paul’s party were more than happy to call them traitors and commies. So yeah the media/MSM consensus hurt Paul and plenty of people Paul would call terrible people for favoring liberal policies. The MSM approaches anybody out of the centrist mainstream questionably.Report
I think someone is selling you false information based on your title.Report
Dammit. I paid good money for that intel.Report
But all you got was a 5 Mhz 8088.Report
I have to say, I think the very first moments of the video — the insistence that the YouTube video you are watching has been censored by YouTube and so you must share it — is kind of perfect.Report
Otherwise, I think the video conflates different thing going one as one. The way I saw it at the time (and still de) was this:
1. It was absolutely true that the media downplayed Paul, and that it did so to an embarrassing degree.
2. Despite that, Paul never had a shot at winning.Report
I think this is exactly right.Report
