Friday Night Videos: Mind? Blown!
Michael Wong, aka Mike Relm, is widely considered to be a DJ god. His multimedia live shows (here’s a taste of one) are legendary, as are his remixes of pretty much everything. He’s also released two albums of original music (original with samples, of course), the second of which, Spectacle, is really damn good.
One of the songs on the album, “Everytime,” features Adrian Hartley, who has a great voice, and the force of nature that is Del the Funky Homosapien. It’s one of those songs that, when I hear it, I think it may be my favorite songs ever. It’s not. I mean, I don’t really have favorite songs, or I do, but they change a few times a day. So when I’m listening to “Everytime,” it’s usually my favorite song, like, Evah, for a little while. I couldn’t really explain why. Or I could, but that would be missing the point; it’s just a matter of being in the moment.
So I thought to myself, “Everytime is awesome, so there’s a post,” and went surfing for a video. That’s when I found this:
I’m sorry, my mind just exploded.
There’s a second track on Spectacle featuring the same Hartley refrain, but with the rapping done by Mr Lif which is just as good as “Everytime.” Having now seen that video, the second track and its relationship to the first one suddenly makes a lot more sense, especially the opening:
Welcome
Few escape,
Seldom
