Saturday night is Vampire the Masquerade. I will be playing a vampire lawyer, and I just now realized the obvious joke that goes with that. He is a Tremere. The game will be with some friends that I have not seen in a few months, which is really the best part.

I played Shadowrun Returns last night. One of the first quests is to help a guy kill some gang members. I killed them, but the quest never updated. I played for about 30 minutes up to that point. Then, I wandered around the map trying to see if I missed anything. Then I said screw it, I am done with this for the night. I do not know if there was a bug, or if I stupidly overlooked something. I will probably start over with a new character, but that was not the best first impression.Report

    • I played it through the morgue, walked out… and it was bedtime. I will keep my eye open for that issue.

So far, I am struck by Shadowrun’s long-term potential more than what it is right now. The story they’re giving us? Eh, I’m sure it’s pretty good… but when a handful of devoted amateurs get their hands on the toolkit and start writing stuff?

I’m looking forward to playing *THAT* module.

But that’s a year, year and a half from now.Report

    • I found the scene that you’re talking about.

You have to get past the hellhounds (there are a couple of ways to do that). Beyond the hellhounds, there is a door. Behind the door, there is one last gang member.Report

It was earlier than that. It was the Halloweeners after the morgue. The troll leader never spawned. I replayed it from a save, and he triggered like he was supposed to.

I did remember one cool thing that comes from backing it on kickstarter. We will get the Berlin mission for free when it comes out. I think it will be a for-pay DLC when it comes out.

There is also going to be a mission that is supposed to tie Shadowrun Returns with the SNES and Genesis games. I think that will be free for everyone, but backers will get it first.Report

Probably seeing a movie (I vote for Pacific Rim).

Plus, all this talk of the South lately has made me hungry, so we’re going to make some Southern food.Report

The better half has been in the city doing sixteen hour days. I’ll be to doing some aftercare and stitching the pieces back together, maybe the Farmers Market or a hike up at Whistler. As far as gaming, Rock Band as a family or being OCD on a particular survival mode on MW3.Report

Isn’t it just assumed that at least 70% of the people who participate in conference calls before 10 am will be asleep?Report

nah, at least not when dealing with surgeons. i’m an earlier riser so it ain’t the worst thing ever but i am a bit whipped.Report

When I was in grad school, there was a junior faculty member in the department who never, ever showed up before noon, and rarely before one (I once went to happy hour with him, and he complained for at least the first 30 minutes we were there about having to teach a class at 12:30). While I’ve never been so brazen, this is pretty much how I approach mornings. I may get up early, but I don’t like it, I’m not even going to pretend to be functional, and if someone doesn’t like it, they can buy me another cup of coffee.

That dude also slept in a sensory deprivation chamber, so…Report

“When I was in grad school…dude also slept in a sensory deprivation chamber…”

        nailed it.

but fer rilla yeah some people want to hold onto the night and some just want the sun to light up their life. and there’s also people who want to sleep all the time, called “party poopers”.Report

There was a party at his house this one time, and he showed us his chamber, which took up the bulk of the bedroom in his condo in a downtown high rise. The entire discussion after that was about how easy it would be for us to break in, steal everything, and leave, ’cause he’d be in a sensory deprivation chamber. Also, I kept obsessing about a tornado coming and him being blissfully unaware.Report
