It’s hard to believe we’re less than two weeks away from the start of Leaguefest 2013. With the Friday schedule now set, the next step is the Saturday schedule, with the most important element of that being dinner Saturday night. I’ll look to put up a full Saturday schedule next weekend, but for now wanted to get confirmation on who planned to attend the Saturday dinner, and also wanted to give an opportunity to weigh in on the restaurant.
Because of the Bluesfest going on that weekend, reservations downtown are rapidly becoming scarce, so I tentatively booked a table for 12 for 7:30 at the Atwood Cafe, which seemed to have a decent menu at a reasonable price by downtown major city standards. However, I can cancel this reservation pretty easily if there is support for another option, and I made the tentative reservation only because this restaurant was likely to be fully booked by the time a final decision is reached. In any event, here are several other possible options:
Rosebud Prime: This is definitely on the expensive side, but that would be the case for any steakhouse, and it just seems wrong to have Leaguefest in Chicago without having at least one steakhouse in the mix. For what it’s worth, The Palm and Morton’s also have availability, but obviously they’re both also national chains.
Rivers. Good location, comparable pricing to Atwood Cafe.
Rosebud Theater District. Italian, a bit more affordable than the rest.
Thoughts?
Since I’m a vegetarian, I’m voting against the steak house; sorry, carnivores. The other three places looked fine with the Italian place having numerous vegetarian options.Report

Ms. Mary, I’m going to order the theater tickets, so I want to verify that you want to go. Nobody else has responded, so it looks like it will just be you, my wife and me. We’d be delighted to have you join us, but I want to make sure you’re comfortable going with a couple in their mid-late 40s (but my wife is cool–works with college age art students).Report

No, no. That’s no problem. Our kids are old enough we manage to get out on dates often enough. We don’t see this as a date and would be happy to share the experience with others. If you want to see the show, we’d love to have your company.Report

For what it’s worth, we’ve eaten at the restaurants attached to a couple of the Kimpton hotels and had good experiences. So, the Atwood Cafe is fine by me.Report
