Help Wanted, Again
The last time I posted a Help Wanted ad here on Gents we ended up with Joe, a most excellent Mennonite carpenter/artist. Joe ended up doing most of the lofting (drawing the boat parts full size) and our success with the build was due in no small part to Joe’s efforts on the project.
So back to the well:
Spend Your Summer Sailing and Get Paid
Sailing Montauk is now accepting applications for deckhands on the 40 foot Polynesian charter catamaran MON TIKI, sailing out of Montauk, New York. Spend your summer onboard MON TIKI in the sun and fresh air, while sharing the joy of sailing, and making good money while you do it.
Successful applicants will be bright, even tempered, quick learning, responsible and adaptable. You will be interacting with the public as both a host and guardian. This is not a job for the lazy or the surly. Conversely, the hardworking and charming will earn excellent tips.
Drug testing is mandatory for this position. If you can’t pass an initial drug screening test, please don’t apply.
Successful applicants will also be smart enough to figure out how to get in touch with me, in spite of there being no contact information in the post.
I can’t say that I’m not tempted.Report
It’s job postings like that which makes me wish I had the qualifications.
Unfortunately, when I went to college, I didn’t major in “good work ethic.”Report
I’m probably not available early enough in the summer, my current employment term does not end until just after the middle of July.Report

Dude… you’re advertising this on a libertarian/liberal-leaning site and you include that? Are you trying not to get any applicants here?Report
I suspect it is government regulation that requires the drug test. If you can’t pass the government won’t let you work on a boat. Recall that as a licensed vessel under USCG rules there are such requirements.Report
Probably reduces his insurance rates too if he tests.Report
Insurance was what I thought of.
Or, if not that, then Tony Comstock hating freedom.Report
I’m sure he’d love to be able to say that his competitors do not test for perfectly legal marijuana.Report
…I’m still not sure who Tony Comstock is…Report
