Completely Serious!

My son sent that to me about a week ago. I watched it at my desk the next morning while drinking coffee, and when Ice JJ Fish started singing, coffee almost went up my nose. He looks a bit goofy from the start, but it looks like a legitimate video (it’s actually fairly well made), complete with the “woman in really tight clothing” hip hop video trope, so up to that point I had no idea anything was amiss. But no one who sings like that can possibly think he’s singing well, right? Hell, I’m not even sure it’s possible to sing that poorly without doing it intentionally. When the woman (who is an Instagram celebrity, I am told) started doing his goofy dance, I realized that everyone is in on the joke, and it must be a joke.

Apparently Ice JJ Fish had just been covering popular songs for a while, but with this video has become something of an internet, particularly Twitter, celebrity. So, now you have an idea for how to spend your weekend: producing a video of you singing really, really awfully. You’ll be rich by this time next week!
