  1. Indie Game looks awesome, but there are two gentlemen featured in the trailer that I want to kidnap and give makeovers to, starting with their eyebrows.Report

  2. I had the opportunity to watch this when it toured through philly several weeks ago. Definitely recommended. I’m not sure of all of the methods for watching it, but I know it the movie file can be pre-ordered on Steam for $6 or so.

While it didn’t have some of the dramatic tension that other docs have (it’s informing about a subject rather than bringing to light a conflict), it does a great job of depicting the more human side of game development.Report

  3. “I don’t consume cultural product x, but I do feel confident to speak to what characteristics it ‘always’ displays”Report

    1. “I don’t write a blog, but I do feel confident to neglect the author’s subjective-writing phrases like ‘seems’ and ‘for me,’ so that I can snark on the point I was hoping to whine about instead of the one he actually wrote about.”Report

      1. What point did you write about?

As I see it, in this 10 sentence post there’s one sentence saying ‘hey guys, this looks cool, check it out’, and 9 saying ‘if you’re into that type of thing, which I’m totally not, I mean it really seems kind of pointless, but I watched this one movie one time and it was okay, so if I was trying to understand some of what goes into video games, which I’m totally not into, I might check this out. But only as an anthropological experiment’Report

        1. Then you decided what I was going to say before you read it.

In what context is “this looks totally awesome, and this other thing is my favorite ever” get translated into “meh.. if you care for that kind of thing, which I don’t?”Report

  4. “I think I’m the only contributor at the League that isn’t a gamer.”

I would never call myself a gamer. I play old versions if matter every few months. If I’m super bored, I might try to find a download of an old computer game I played in high school (e.g., “Heroes of Might and Magic II”). But, yea, you are not the only non-gamer here!Report
