  1. This is really good. And once again: food is what holds us together, makes us remember. Maybe it’s only through learning how to break bread with each other again that we’ll all survive.Report

  2. One thing that seems to keep coming up is how pizza is a ubiquitous food and has been for decades and decades. So it’s a food that kids eat. Which means that it’s a food that kids eat with their parents. It’s a food that teenagers eat with friends. It’s a food that young adults eat alone in their first apartment when they’re just starting out. It’s a food that you get on your honeymoon with your main squeeze.

When you take a bite, it’s not just about the bite of pizza.

It’s about the memory you have of that person and those people and that time and those times.

  3. Most people (including myself) are not socially adroit enough to go to a place just to tell them that we won’t be coming in anymore. Mostly because we don’t want to be arm-twisted into coming again.

I can think of more than one restaurant I can’t go to anymore because I dread being asked, “Where have you been?”Report
