Good News, Bad News
The good news: a promising new HIV prophylaxis regime. I’m not really up on HIV treatments, but I understand that antiretrovirals are pretty harsh on the body all by themselves. Taking them every day seems a drastic step, but for some it’s potentially a good idea and could help save lives.
The bad news: serious threat of war in Korea. What Fate gives with one hand, she takes with the other.
If I dare, it’s an open thread. Play nice, kids.
North Korea’s military is large, but ill-equipped and poorly trained. I say send a few special forces units in to eliminate Kim and see if his hapless son can manage to maintain any control. I seriously doubt the military on its own initiative would launch an attack and would probably ignore Kim Jong-eun if he ordered an attack. Then we begin negotiating with whichever general or colonel manages to get control and see if we can get a fairly benign dictator out of the situation–benign in not launching shells at the ROK, that is, and being willing to open up economically, if not politically.
I know, I’m too hawkish to be a good libertarian. But if you object, go see DAR’s post on political pigeonholing.Report
For whatever reason, the League’s commentariat seems to abhor an open thread. Go figure.Report
