How’s this for a song video:
If it’s not clear, that’s the band, Death Grips, listening to their song in a small room. That’s it, that’s the whole video, and is in fact how the song was initially released in the lead up to the release of their “final” album, The Powers that B.
A week later they released another, “official” video for the song, this time with a magician doing various tricks:
Now that I’ve linked to that song twice, I feel like I should have begun the post with a warning, “Rap Rock Contained Herein.” Instead, I’ll just throw in another song:
Nice to see you are catching up on some of Sacramento’s beats! My son got me into Death Grips a few years back, and while I am not a hip hop fan, the way they put it together is different enough for me to enjoy.Report
Coincidentally, my son introduced them to me as well.Report
Anybody having trouble with the embeds? Some people seem to be, but I can see them.Report
I can see them, and that’s not always the case for me on mobile iOS. Haven’t listened yet though.Report
I am thinking it is just on my end @chrisReport
Well, I’m glad you let me know anyway. It’s rarely just one person.Report
I got the meta-joke on the front page. Clever.Report
I am finally getting around to these now. Thoughts:
1.) I had no idea that Death Grips had rock elements at all. But then again I haven’t paid attention at all, after they sent me an unsolicited dick pic. Not cool, Death Grips!
2.) So I guess Zach Hill is in Death Grips? He’s kind of a bonkers drummer.
He’s actually a little much for this song, but it still gives an idea:
3.) Not sure how I feel about Death Grips. Though I liked the second track more than the first.
4.) Where IS that little white room? Who has a teeny-tiny bare all-white room, and what for? Is it for recording purposes?
5.) I feel like “minimal videos” could be a category.
(Obviously):
And
And
I featured this one a while back:

I actually thought of the Replacements video when I first saw this one. I was almost disappointed when I did a little digging and learned they’d later released the other video, even if it’s minimalist in its own way (so’s the video for the second song, really).Report
