If I’d smoked pot as an undergrad I’d have a better excuse, I suppose. I’d always play the last one, just for fun, for people who weren’t Pink Floyd aficionados. “What band is this?” I’d ask. “It’s one you’ve heard of.” Funniest answer? “The Rolling Stones.”
Sabia. Ryuichi Sakamoto and the Morelenbaums playing a Tom Jobim tune.Report
Ryuichi Sakamoto is always a surprise. Have you seen Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence?Report
Yes. I can play a goodly chunk of it on the piano from memory.Report

Honestly, kids these days have no respect for tradition.Report
I was a late bloomer, started in grad school. They threatened to kick me out if I didn’t.Report

My great joy of late is that Sirius/XM is launching a dedicated Pink Floyd channel at the end of June. All Pink Floyd and PF related material (solo stuff, etc.) 24/7. Keep this truck driver happy.Report
The soundtrack to More is their most underrated album, I think. The soundtrack to Zabriskie Point is unlistenable.Report
Watching the transit of Venus, deeply moved, I cued up this bit of the Floyd as Venus crossed into the solar disc.
And this is what I played as it left.Report
Huh, all this time I thought the lyrics were “*magic* and miracles”. Some people owe Violent J an apology methinks.Report
