Happy D.B. Cooper Day!
It’s the 39th anniversary of the semi-legendary D.B. Cooper’s hijacking of a Boeing 727 for $200,00 ransom. Receiving the money, Cooper then made his escape by parachuting out of the airplane. The case remains unsolved. Ah, for the good old days when airplane hijackings were for the comparatively innocuous purposes of ransoms and such.
It’s not, it must be noted, one of his best songs, but here’s the wonderful Todd Snider’s homage to D.B. Cooper:
[N.B. — For those unacquainted with Snider (unfortunately, almost everyone) but who enjoy the likes of John Prine and Jerry Jeff Walker, I highly recommend Snider’s 2003 Near Truths and Hotel Rooms.]
My favorite Snider song is this.Report
