My Favorite Team
You might have heard that Robinson Cano, former starting second baseman for the Yankees, signed a 75-year contract with the Seattle Mariners for a kajillion dollars (plus four BitCoins.) A lot of teams would have been mad about losing their best player, but team president Randy Levine showed not only the usual class but also the penetrating insight we’ve come to expect from America’s Team:
I feel bad for him because I think he’s disappointed he’s not a Yankee.
Of course he does. Everybody wants to be a Yankee. The only reason there are 29 other teams is to add a little bit of suspense before the Yankees rightfully win another championship. Cano is going to be miserable once he realizes that he’s gone from star to extra, and it’s generous of Levine to sympathize with him. This is just one more example of why we all love the Yankees so much.

2 championships in the past four years, as opposed to one in the past five. Why would I feel sour grapes?Report
