Slade the Leveller in reply to North on Comment Rescue: DavidTC on the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Unfreezing of Funds
This is not entirely untrue.Report
Many years ago, my wife and I had dinner at a small expensive restaurant (on her employer’s dime) that had started life as a house. We were in one of the odd little nooks and I overhead the head waiter talking to one of the regular waiters. Something like, “I’ve put Mr. and Mrs. Smith at table 6. They’ll only order appetizers, perhaps a dessert, and a glass of wine. Be very nice to them. They live a block up the street, eat here the nights their cook has off, and once a month reserve the big room for their family and friends for the evening and spend a ton of money.”Report
More like this is both true and timeless in any establishment of any significant quality.Report
Even at cheaper less fancy restaurants. The BBQ place I go to regularly “knows” me and knows I dump my change and a couple bills in the tip jar, and I get greeted like an old friend.
Though I suspect also not being “specially” demanding and saying stuff like “oh hey! You have campfire potatoes today, I love those, they’re really good!” might help.Report
