Weekend!
After a fairly mild December and January, February is proving that it is, indeed, the longest month by giving us the snowstorm we ordered in mid-December. It was one of those snowfalls that was light and fluffy enough to have you say “I don’t need the shovel… I’ll just use the broom” and it was easy to clear the deck and sidewalk and even the driveway.
But by the time you were done, the deck looked like you hadn’t touched it.
Then you turned around and realized that you had to do the sidewalk again.
So I went to bed.
It’s also *COLD*. Like, “wear the Russian bomber hat” cold. Like, “sit at your computer desk with a blanket across your knees” cold. Like, “the cats aren’t even fighting when they lie next to each other” cold.
So, this weekend, we’ll be huddled up for warmth. Running errands when we must… but mostly saying “let’s not get out of our fuzzies unless we absolutely positively have to.”
So… what’s on your docket?

Yeah, it snowed last night for the first time this year and it is supposed to be 19* tonight. When does spring start?Report
I’m at work till 2 am. Then home to sleep. Then up again soon as I can manage it (probably around 2), and back to work till 10.
Saturday will be for holing up as Jay said, though I may want to hole up at the movie theater rather than the house (there are FIVE movies I want to see in the theater right now). Sunday I’m working 6pm-2am. Monday I have off but appointments all day.
The closest thing to feeling “weekendy” I expect to get this week is a Dar Williams concert on Tuesday which I cannot even with how excited I am to finally be seeing her live after, wow, 20ish years of loving her stuff.Report
One more “workend.” This is the Science Olympiad, the thing I’ve given up chunks of the past 2 weekends to prepare for. (I had to write 2 exams from scratch – or, rather, was given the impression I had to, and when I was nearly done with them I found the link to sample exams on the website….)
I am apprehensive as we have had a week of heavy rain here. Our building has many problems and one is that the roofs leak incredibly badly. So, this is a recruitment event. And we’re gonna have people who MIGHT be considering us for university come in and see buckets everywhere and drips.
I’m telling myself though that there is literally nothing I can do about that, and if the administration has problems with it, well, they should have found the bucks to fix our roof, which we have been complaining about for 10 years.
But dang will I be glad when this weekend is over. This coming Tuesday is my birthday and I can’t even think about doing anything “fun” until NEXT weekend.Report
Hopefully, I won’t be doing much of anything this weekend. But I might go into work tomorrow (Saturday). I have a BIG VERY IMPORTANT SUPER SECRET PROJECT that will be due pretty soon and I’m not quite as far along as I would like to be. (But then, one is never quite as far along as one would like until after the project is done.)Report
Gonna go see Black Panther with Thing One. I saw it already yesterday with MrsJay. Two thumbs up!
That storm blew through here on its way to you, but I think it’s much colder where you are.Report
Seeing Black Panther and maybe looking for a new kitchen sink/faucet.Report
Going to Seattle to see my surrogate son this weekend!!! I’m a little excited.Report
