  1. Yum, pulled pork! (I had turkey, which was also very good.)

Mance, Tyrion, and Margaery were my favourite bits. The books didn’t do a lot to develop Margaery, so I like what the show is doing with her here. For all their scheming, the Lannisters have no comprehension of how to make people actually like you, or of the political value of people liking you.

I really, really like the Dany storyline in the third book, but right now it feels…kind of bland? Like they’re trying to just get through the material rather than make you really invested in it. Maybe it’s just because they jumped into things so fast that they didn’t really have time to build up anything.Report

    1. Tywin Lannister would rather be feared than loved. But you’re right: that failure to comprehend the power and usefulness of charm is a serious weakness of the entire Lannister clan. And perhaps, because they do not understand it, they tend to undervalue or discount it.Report

  2. Ciaran Hinds was terrific as always, but he’s nothing like the Mance of the books. He’d have been a great Stannis.Report
