Tomorrow Corporation is the company that brought us Little Inferno. In that game, you explored the joys of buying things and setting them on fire. (Still recommended, by the way.)
Well, they’ve recently released another game. “Human Resource Machine”.
In this one, you write simple programs. Take this from the inbox and place it in the outbox. Maybe perform an operation or two on it somewhere in between. The challenge of the game not only comes from stuff like “how do I add these two numbers together…” but “how can I crunch these numbers using the fewest commands?” or “how can I crunch these numbers using the fewest steps?” (And the solution to those last two questions might involve two different formulae entirely.)
It’s one of those games that makes you feel smart, then dumb, then smart again, then dumb again. This will go on for a while, actually. (A really fun series of problems was to take an input number and then triple it using only the add function. Then to take a number and octuple it using only the addition function. Then to tetracontuple it using only the addition function.)
If you’re a programmer, you probably get enough of this crap at work… but if you enjoy doing math in your head for light enjoyment, the problems are discrete and you can finish one, walk away, then sit down to work out another.
So… what are you playing?

Today I played another round of, “El Nino waterfowl seasons suck.” Without cold and snow up North the migration may not make it to KY this year. It’s been a while since I went a morning without seeing a single bird.
On the positve side, my new Muck boots did great in 29 degree temps.
UfC tonight.Report
The “winter” up here sucks and blows. It’s 40 and windy and rained yesterday. Hardly any snow left down low and major avalanche danger in the mountains.Report
Pretty weird year. And after such a dang cold winter last year.Report
Yeah although last year was terrible up her also. Second lowest snowfall total on records last year and plenty of rain. Still hoping for a nice big dump of snow at some point.Report
We’re actually getting rain this winter, so I can’t complain.Report
Still playing Fallout. Just cleared Vault 81. They said “Congrats, we’re giving you a room!” And all the items laying around the Vault turned from red to green. In my mind some twenty minutes later they’re all standing around wearing barrels and grumbling about outsiders. In reality they seemed perfectly happy as I stripped everything not nailed down out of their homes.Report
I played a lot of Sunless Sea (fun!) and played The Wolf Among Us, which was fantastic.Report
