    I watched the pilot the other night, and I have to say I was underwhelmed. I liked the premise a lot, but the execution came off a little too… ummm… maybe “mugging-for-the-camera” is what I’m going for here.Report

      The lighting is very television.

      They crammed in the nods to the movies; the doll attack, the chainsaw beheading, the low-ground hugging first person evil force approaching, the huge force attacking the gulf stream from the outside with the requisite off-kllter quick cut camera angles. In a way, I think it was good to clear that out in the first episode.

      I liked that the one Deadite with the off-center head shot came back. That was a nice little change from the movies to give the old fans an unexpected jump scare.

      The new sidekicks are a little raw. Bruce hit the tone right, I think.Report

      @tod-kelly

      I am shocked, shocked someone accused Bruce Campbell of mugging for the camera 😉Report

    I thought it was pretty fun, and reminiscent of the films.Report

    I’d heard this advertised on the radio. Sounds interesting. I liked his previous two “dead” movies and his part in Burn Notice, so, if I had access, I’d probably watch it.Report

      You can see why they didn’t cast Gabrielle Anwar too.

      “There’s a horde of them approaching the city. We need a way to head them off.”

      “Or we could kill them.”

      “Fiona, I’m only going to explain this once more.”Report
