Saturday!
Candy Crush Saga is coming pre-installed on Windows 10.
On a scale of 1 to “Plants vs. Zombies 2 isn’t coming out for PC”, this strikes me as about a 6 or 7.
One of the main things that those “freemium” skinner-box games had going for them is that, pretty much, you had to know about them before you ever had an opportunity to play them… and Facebook did a great job of making learning about them as obnoxious as it was likely to be fun. (e.g., “QUIT OFFERING ME A FREE COW TO PLAY FARMVILLE!!!”)
Putting it *ON* the computer? That’s just eeeevil. They’re going to snooker people who never, ever would have found themselves part of that lifestyle.
Then again, maybe after they’ve been bit, they’ll get into “buy once, play forever” kinda games and we’re opening the franchise. Maybe.
So… what are you playing?

Is there a word for “synergy, but evil”?

As I found out recently, HP machines are coming out with Farmville 2. Back when I bought my backup server from Compusa’s crash and burn sale, it had a one gb bloatware on it that allowed me to play Bejeweled in exchange for various considerations.
This is not a new thing.Report
I dusted off my save files from my unfinished second play-through of The Witcher 2. It took me a bit to be able to regain a grip on the story and lore and various characters. I am looking forward to The Witcher 3, despite the brewing controversies. I wonder, though, if I should wait for and Enchanced edition like the previous two games had.Report
