Thank you for the recommendation! My MIL watched “The Art Of Racing In The Rain” while traveling to visit us, and she’s the sort of person who watches every movie that has a dog and always gets upset when the dog dies at the end, so this is probably one that she will enjoy.Report

Interesting. And yes, I’d like to see more movies like this, where there is a clear hero, and there’s something to be done, and the characters know it must be done despite the hardships, and they do it.

I talk about the Serum Run a little bit in one of my biology classes, when I discuss diphtheria and the problems it caused (and also the importance in the modern day of vaccination against it). I guess I’m not surprised that few of my students have heard of this bit of history, but maybe “Togo” will help reverse that a little? (And I guess the Iditarod wasn’t so much to commemorate the run as it was to provide “employment” for sled dogs so the practice doesn’t die out)Report

I have seen many Disney movies that have dogs as main characters.

    I remain scarred.Report
