Weekend!
Visiting the local Chik-fil-A the other day, they were doing a promotion where you would add the Chik-fil-A app to your smartphone, they’d have you spin the prize wheel, and you’d win either a small drink, small fries, or small ice cream. We were walking up and the lovely young woman behind the prize wheel asked us if we had the app yet because “you guys come here often enough”.
“Nah”, I told her. “Smartphones is how the government tracks you.”
She snorted and looked at me pointedly and, without missing a beat, asked me “Have you ever had dental work?”
Speaking of which, I had dental work this week as well. So I’m broadcasting loud and clear and looking good.
Which will have me poised for this weekend.
This week has been one of long nights at work and getting up anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half early in order to hammer out even more stuff that needs to get done because the deadlines are coming up fast and there’s drama and tension between teams and people are being pulled in multiple directions and, golly, I just want to sit in my comfy chair in my pajama pants in front of my tv and play the Spider-Man game and collect pigeons.
I think that that might actually be schedulable. (Well, after we do the grocery thing, and the Costco thing, and the PetSmart thing.)
So… what’s on your docket?

Chile fest this weekend. So we’ll bet a bushel and then spend an hour or two peeling and bagging them before we chuck them in the freezer.
Beyond that, sleeping in and playing catch up with my grading pile.Report
Hopefully, going to the local art museum – and you can too! Tomorrow is Museum Day:

I don’t even know at this point; all I care about is that (a) I have no grading I must do (it’s all done) and (b) the exam I give next week is already at the printer’s. \
It’s going to depend on whether the torrential rain we are supposed to get clears out of the area or not. I WANT to go to the craft store and the bookstore (hour’s round trip for me) but if the roads are unsafe, it’s not worth it. (Which means another weekend of groceries-gotten-locally, probably at the Mart of Wal).
I also look forward to not rising before 5 am tomorrow to work out, and to having a bit more flexibility in meals. Have been wanting to make baked beans (from scratch because that’s how I am) for a while, but it’s been too hot or my oven’s been broken, but I fixed my oven and it looks to be cooler this weekend…Report
Nope. Major flooding around me, and also, I hate driving on the interstate in heavy rain because enough people are idiotic enough about driving that bad weather extra dangerous. Went to the local wal-mart, had totally forgot their reorg to make room for regular-point beer and wine, so it took twice as long to find stuff. I hope I didn’t forget anything I needed.
At least I slept in until 7.
This means though that I probably won’t get to the next town over for at least 2 more weeks given my research schedule. It sucks living in a town that pretty much just has a Lowe’s and a Wal-mart and I confess it exacerbates some latent hoarder tendencies I have in the realm of “I better buy this supply now because God knows how soon I’ll get back”Report
I need a drink. I had to fire a homeless person today so I’m feeling like the world’s worst human being. Hopefully I will find something this weekend that makes me see the good in the world.Report
Going to Smithville to participate in the annual Beard and Moustache competition.

Fall is in the air, I have finished most of my porch repaint, work trip isn’t for another couple weeks, so I have nothing planned! I might take a long drive in the country, don’t know yet.Report
