Aussies!
As befits the OTHER Country Founded By The People England Didn’t Want, Australia strikes me as having a lot of cultural similarities to the U.S.A.
Like us, the Land Down Under seemingly has a certain impatience with pretense, a pronounced reluctance to kowtow to old authority.
Also like us, they think The Stooges are pretty much the greatest music ever made for delinquents and mental patients.
And an aptitude for snotty unhinged garage-punk in general.

“Frantic Romantic” is a great song.Report
It is known.
Also, thanks for not letting this post go down without a single comment. That’s always depressing.Report
Heh… I listened to it through a couple times, and had to say something.
I imagine other people listen through, but don’t feel as compelled.Report
I dunno why, but I kind of expected a Rufus comment on this one. Positive or negative, I wasn’t sure.Report
The Land Down Under just can’t get no love.
I just assume all of their songs are about dingoes and wallabies.Report
Don’t forget Vegemite.Report
“Don’t forget Vegemite.”

When you need fermented mucous in paste form Vegamite is the best choice.Report
Don’t forget Tim Tams!Report
i thought this would be a post about the church.Report
I could make you a kick-ass best-of for the Church. They’ve got some good jangly psych tunes, vocals, guitars…and also, some seriously naff lyrics, and many many songs with mood, but no hooks. It’s a rare Church album I’ll play all the way through…and they have a LOT of albums.Report
Indeed The Church are a good band. They had lots of good catchy songs with a nifty touch the Byrds and/or good psychedelia.Report
And I thought it would be about Men At Work, given Glyph’s well-known weakness for 80s AOR.Report
I’ll admit to a real fondness for “Overkill”.
