The concept of describing alcoholics as either “on” or “off” the wagon is one I have trouble wrapping my brain around. To me, I imagine being “on the wagon” with some friends knocking back beers. And falling “off the wagon” seems to be the inevitable consequence of having had one too many. And so it gets terribly difficult for me to remember which expression describes which state of being….

But if you’re an alcoholic, you can’t get have one or two without soon getting to a few too many. So you should not be drinking on a wagon. People shouldn’t drink and drive anyway.Report
