Obama has suspended diplomatic relations with Russia and is currently discussing sanctions in Europe.

What would you have him do? A military strike on his way out the door?

On “Freddie: they’re going to keep losing

I do find it somewhat amusing that he's telling a group they aren't being heard because they're disliked, then laments that they don't like him and haven't listened to what he's had to say.

"

California did pass it, it still needs 105 more electoral vote to take effect.

"

There's been work on the <National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. It won't take effect without red state support, but that seems slightly easier than getting 2/3 of Congress to support an amendment.

Apart from trying to get all of humanity to limit greenhouse gas emissions?

"

No, the first step is admitting there's a problem. America fails that.

"

It would require collective action to make enough of a difference.

It's like the typical BS argument about taxes, "If Warren Buffet wants higher taxes, why doesn't he just pay more?!" Even with Buffet's massive wealth, he could only make a very tiny dent for a single year. Yet raising the taxes of everyone could produce a larger and more sustainable change.

But of course it's all a moot point if half the country doesn't even acknowledge there's a problem. Perhaps, though, that's liberals' fault for not listening enough to deniers.

"

That's roughly equivalent to 0.0000002402% of the CO2 produced by the US in 2014.

Outrageous.

I've long felt there was a rightward lurch (for lack of a better term) after the election of Obama similar to the one that happened after 9/11. It wasn't just the knee jerk reactions to the events, but a (seemingly) permanent galvanization in political thinking.

It's quite possible a leftward shift could be happening with the election of Trump, but that, of course, remains to be seen.

National Popular Vote Interstate Compact They're up to 165 electoral votes. "Just" need 105 more before it takes effect.

My fear is not that Republicans will continue their tactics now that they're in control, but that Democrats will adopt them and they'll become the new norm.

I fear the "lesson" that Washington will learn from this is that 8 years of obstructionism and a decades long fishing expedition against Clinton ultimately paid off. I will expect to see more in the future.

On “Still Life of The Author in this New America

If "this" refers to election night results, then I'd say it was the vast majority of polls showing Clinton leading that likely lead most people to think she was, in fact, leading.

If "this" refers to the Trump campaign in general and him winning the nomination, then I'd say there were a fair number on the right who never saw it coming, either. It had nothing to do with being a leftie. He defied all of the established "rules".

By and large, I don't think the left is unaware that gamergate type mentalities exist and are a significant force.

Does the rest of her comment not merit consideration, though? She didn't exactly finish with "fuck those guys!"

I blame Jon Stewart. If he hadn't retired right before primary season, he could have pilloried Trump on a national stage night after night and we might have completely avoided this whole thing.

Most use I've gotten from our slow cooker was when I was made freezer meals (there are a ton of recipes online). Do a ton of prep on the weekends and put everything into gallon bags and stick them in the freezer. The night before you want to use one, put it in the fridge, then stick it in the cooker in the morning before work.

I just got a pressure cooker, but haven't used it yet. I probably will this weekend.

It's an accusation. The cops witnessed no such thing in the two seconds before they killed him.

I don't mind commercials. I enjoy well made ones, and it both baffles and horrifies my wife when I sing jingles going back to the 80s. What I find aggravating, though, is lack of variety and back loading shows.

If you watch multiple shows on a cable news channel, for example, you'll likely hear several of the same commercials across the shows. Watch that time slot on multiple days, and you're hearing the same commercials over and over and over again. Even the most clever commercial will get old. If there were more variety, I wouldn't be nearly as annoyed.

TNT's strategy for playing commercials during movies makes me not want to watch movies on their network. At the beginning, they have few and short commercial breaks while you get invested in the plot, then much more frequent breaks with more commercials as you get near the end. I rarely ever watch movies on basic cable anymore. If there's something I want to see playing, I just try to make a mental note to catch it somewhere else.

Plain mayo, sure. But a local burger joint has a chipotle mayo that's awesome with fries.

In other news, conservatives continue their push for a National ID Card program and federal registration and voting regulations.

I wouldn't mind seeing Dragonlance get the full Lord of the Rings treatment. (I know there was a somewhat recent animated movie, but it was horrible rated.)
