Nicole Pamby is an old blogging friend of mine. She mostly blogs about her career as a freelance writer but today she shared some of her personal life.
There are a lot of reasons my marriage is over. I’m not going to be one of those women who complains about her ex-husband. I don’t hate Monty. I really don’t. I hate that things have happened the way they did. I hate that it’s so complicated, especially right now. And, as crazy as it may sound to people, I hope that when the difficult and complicated parts are over, things will be better between us, and I don’t mean only for the sake of the children. (But that’s another post for a different type of blog.)
There is one aspect of what’s happening that I can talk about, and that’s really the focus of this post because it has a lot to do with why I am where I am in my life right now.
I am a lesbian.
I’m not even going to pretend to understand what Nicole is going through right now but she sounds amazingly upbeat in her recent posts. Optimism, it seems, is possible in even the hardest of moments. I am so impressed with her bravery and I look forward to hearing more from her.

I’ve not experienced the closet myself but by all accounts the only thing more harrying than exiting it is remaining imprisoned within it. My best wishes for you and your family in the future.Report

A woman who’s very close to me was married to someone for about 20 years before finally getting a divorce. He was / is a nice guy, but obviously, it was hard on everyone. Now, however, she seems much happier (it’s been about 7 years since the divorce), and I’m proud of her for having the courage to respect herself enough to make what was a very difficult decision. I wish Nicole the best.

I definitely think no-exit marriages are nuts but I like the idea of a covenant marriage. I think if they offered them in KY my wife and I would strongly consider one.Report
