Her name was derived from the Greek verb melpô or melpomai meaning “to celebrate with dance and song.” She is often represented with a tragic mask and wearing the cothurnus, boots traditionally worn by tragic actors. Often, she also holds a knife or club in one hand and the tragic mask in the other.
Interesting that the muse of tragedy’s name derives from a word meaning “to celebrate with dance and song.”
Zygaldo, if you couldn’t tell, is a little bit dubstep, a little bit bass, a little bit classical, and a little bit pop. Good work music, and I keep getting sucked into “Melpomene” in particular, but not something I’m going to tell people they must hear.
And it just struck me that with this title, someone might think this is a post about the band Muse, of whom my son is a fan. I suppose Zygaldo has a bit of the over-the-top thing that Muse has, but no, it’s about some Scottish dude who makes slightly eccentric EDM.
I already used the word “Muse”!

As someone who was born in the purgatory between Gen X and the Millennials, I certainly feel closer to the Gen X side. There is a part of me that does wish I was old enough in the 1990s to attend Throwing Muse concerts.Report

mike paradinas confuses the hell out of me these days. in a good/bad way.
the more i listen to the new aphex the more i enjoy it. had fun teaching the kid about vinyl until he smeared yogurt all over said vinyl.
