Weekend!
Over the staycation, I got NOTHING done. Well, that’s not exactly true. I made the 3C Casserole for Maribou (she said she’d rather have that than the pasketti sauce). I filled up the car with gas. I beat a couple of levels of Portal (the original) and watched a couple episodes of Stranger Things.
But, other than that?
Pantsless.
IT WAS MAGNIFICENT.
Which pretty much means that, over the weekend, I have to do all of the stuff that I said that I would do during the staycation and pack all of it into a couple of days.
Especially since one of the things I really wanted to do was get the fan belt checked out and the mechanic says that he can’t fit me in until Monday so I moved my day off from Friday to next week so I’m actually kind of interrupting my vacation with a day at work.
Just as well. I accidentally talked to my boss today and she told me that everything broke while I was gone.
So, this weekend, it’s hit all (as in ALL) of the stores: PetSmart, Whole Foods, Costco, King Soopers. Vacuum various floors of the house (including the stairs). Get the car prepped so that I’m not embarrassed to have the mechanic drive it onto the lift. Laundry. Sweet, sweet laundry.
And then get myself emotionally ready for the week at work that follows the week where I didn’t go in. I shudder at the thought.
So… what’s on your docket?

Here till 2 am tonight at the tail end of a split shift, then back to a normal, actually an easy day tomorrow working 4pm-10pm. Getting out at 10pm will feel like a half day :D.
I have a 3 day weekend of recuperating planned – oh, and switching out litterboxes! honey, make sure to buy kitty litter at the PetsMart please – during which I mostly plan to watch TV, read, and sleep. Oh, glorious sleep. The thought of sleeping for more than 4 consecutive hours – or even 4, up for a bit, 4, but on MY OWN SCHEDULE of when I’m actually sleepy – seems like a fantabulous dream at the moment.Report
I printed out the PetsMart coupon and I’ll be stopping by there on the way home tonight. I’ll make sure that Angel has the kidney-friendly paté that he needs.
I will try to stay up until 10!Report
It was a valiant effort and you made smoochy noises in your sleep.
Plus the bacon cheesy bread drop off totally makes up for the already asleep husband.
If you’re reading this tomorrow morning, Don’t Wake Me Up!Report
I recommend that you watch more Stranger Things. Since I have finished it, I will drive to the city and have brunch with my daughter, somewhere in the Mission. There’s a crepe place we like, but maybe we will try other things.
Also, I will be watching more episodes of Flash, season 2.
And Sunday, more superhero RPG. I think my other daughter is about to pull of something that’s quite magnificent. There’s a big office building in Denver, with a bunch of cyborged mutants under the mind control of another, very badass, but very mysterious woman who might also be a cyborg, and is definitely a mutant. She is responsible for an attack on the President (one that we care about saving, I hasten to add!) and the place is surrounded by police.
Our gang has infiltrated the place, and everything is set to well, explode. I have a hunch that time travel is going to be involved.
So there’s that.Report
I’ll be spending this weekend recovering from my past week:
1) I’ve just been given a temporary promotion to manage a couple of projects for another team at my Department.
2) One of these projects is close to publication, and needs to be pushed through to the layers of bureaucracy that come with publishing thing in government. I was already involved int he project, so I know what needs to happen, but there is a lot to do in the next month.
3) So I’m basically starting a new job while having to manage a high-priority project at high speed.
4) On top of that, this past week was a short week for me (Monday was Waitangi Day), and while you would think having a long weekend would help, all it really means in this situation is that I have to do a week’s work in four days.
So, while this week is the start of a good opportunity for me, it has been utterly exhausting.Report
Get the car prepped so that I’m not embarrassed to have the mechanic drive it onto the lift.
That was one (among many) cool thing(s) about having the ’68 Comet.
Whenever I would go in for service work, there was something of a race to see who would get to drive it onto the lift.
Also got me preferential parking at the Ford plant.Report
Had to pop down to the Bay to close out a 2 1/2 year personal purgatory, spending yesterday looking over lake Merritt with lawyers. So, I got that going for me, which is nice. Supposed to be hanging out with old friends tonight, then getting on an airplane to head home tomorrow.Report
At least you got some of that Bay Area weather while you were here.Report
I don’t really have any plans this weekend. I might decide at the last minute pick up a shift at job #2 this weekend and take Junior with me. A friend of mine has a brother with a disability, but he passed away last week suddenly (unrelated to his disability). In his honor, she asked us to attend a rally to support funding for DD services.
You have inspired me to go without pants this weekend, JB. You and these clothes I keep trying to squeeze my pregnant ass in to. Hopefully I get another shipment of maternity clothes in the mail this weekend.Report
Any time I can inspire anyone to go pantsless, I feel that I have done a good deed.
Good luck at the rally. Give our condolences to your friend. (Is there a charity that she’d like people to send a couple of bucks to?)Report
Watching a show that samples Homie the Clown, of all things.
Best moniker ever: Mr. NotShown (may work better in the original japanese).Report
full work day today (finishing manuscript, prepping for next weekend’s madness)
full work day next Saturday – it’s Honors College recruitment day on my campus and also the regional Science Olympiad and I was fool enough, or rather, scared enough* to say yes to both things.
(*We’ve had some discussion of “coming up with priorities of who would be let go if the budget got that bad” so those of us who have an anxious bent are doing our best to seem obvious and indispensible).
The last weekend of the month is my birthday weekend and I darn well hope no one wants me to do anything THAT Saturday….Report
