The Cooler
You will need: one half a watermelon, 1 1/2 cucumbers, several sprigs of fresh mint, three limes, and gin.
Peel the cucumbers, and remove the meat from the watermelon. Purée fruits. Using a cone strainer, filter the juice of the fruit out from the fiber. Finely dice the mint, and juice the limes. Mix and refrigerate.
Cooler juice will separate in the refrigerator. Re-mix before adding the gin to taste, serving over ice.
Handle with care. This one will contaminate you quickly.

Sounds refreshing….bit much sugar for me though.Report
Sounds good Burt. But given that I’m the one American who doesn’t like watermelon, probably not for me. Below is my offering, which we did, indeed, drink last night.
The Team Tedford Toddy (the official drink of my husband’s mixed-doubles tennis team)
Orange-flavored vodka
Tonic
Pomegranate juice
Lime slices
Pomegranate seeds (optional)
Mix a jigger of rum with tonic and pomegranate juice to taste. Add the juice of one lime slice, plus a few pomegranate seeds.Report

(In all seriousness I never heard of the red part of a watermelon referred to as “the meat”. The flesh, yes, but not the meat.)Report
Is it necessary to strain out the pulp? I tend to like my juices on the thicker side.Report
I get pretty obsessed with Bloody Marys during the summer but I recently tried a variation someone told me about. It was fantastic (It’s also pretty good without the booze. (My 15-year old loves virgin Bloody Marys and she gave the no-alcohol version of this one a thumbs up as well.)
