I take a small measure of solace in knowing that I’d have lost no matter what players I played. But come on, did you really expect me to sit Aaron Rodgers against a suspect Seattle secondary?Report

Rodgers had a respectable game against the Seahawks, but Brady has broken fast from the gate. RB2 is where I falter. There is a real dearth of quality talent in the NFL at running back for some reason.Report

      • My impression is that o-lines all over the league have gone to hell this year. Tough for any running back to produce consistently if the blockers are getting beaten.Report

Yeah, a bunch of teams offensive lines are looking bad. Has there been anything talking about why?Report

My suspicion is that several trends are catching up with the NFL: the prevalence of the spread in college so that o-line players are less prepared for the NFL; my impression that injuries are up; free agency. For the first Broncos game this year, the o-line in front of Manning had never played a down as a unit, and they looked like it.Report

Teams are moving away from three down backs. They now have one for the first two downs and then another for third down. That is almost the best a back gets these days. Many teams are even worse and have a split like Cleveland, three backs with none getting into the high teens of carries.

Combined to that how much more pass friendly the league is and you get drastically reduced/inconsistent points to backs.

That is why I think the zero back strategy is becoming more viable and our league is very friendly for this. We only need one back to play each week, so we only need a second back on the bye week (baring injury).Report

Just finished watching KC at GB. And seeing that on the Yahoo league I came within 4 points of pulling out a miracle win notwithstanding my inexplicable benching of LeGarette Blount and my lack of anyone actually playing tight end.

Aaron Rodgers is a young god, and should be worshiped accordingly. That is all.Report
